Munnery's sinister wedding altar ego Chit chat The Stage 30/03/2000 TABARD Deadpan funnyman Simon Munnery - aka Alan Parker Urban Warrior and The League Against Tedium - looks to have finally yielded to the dark side. For the Perrier nominee, who, as a Cambridge graduate, wowed Footlights audiences with a double act called God and Jesus (he was God, while Jesus was a chap called Stephen Cheeke, who is now a university lecturer) has just got married with more than a whiff ofdisrespect to that hallowed institution. What better clothing to sport on the big day, he thought, than a half black, half white suit ensemble. Was this ying and yang garb proof that he toyed with a yes/no answer right up until the moment he made anhonest woman of his bride, the blushing Janet? Or does the choice of colour scheme, compared to more traditional monotone ideas, prove that, now God has ditched Jesus, Munnery is hatching comedic schemes with more sinister forces? I think we should be told.
